| Q. Is the deck area safe for small children?
A. Supervision of small children on the deck is required at all times. The railing is not child-proof. Q. How many people can the Retreat and Guest house sleep?
A. The Retreat:- can sleep up to12 people in 5 bedrooms(2 bathrooms, 4 showers one that is outside up at the spa area). One of the upstairs bedrooms has 2 beds a queen size bed (which can not split to singles) and a king size bed that can split to singles. All other beds in the remaining four bedrooms are very comfortable super-king size beds that can split to singles if required. Usual cost is $40 plus GST to split a bed. A. The Guest house:- also has 5 bedrooms (three bathrooms two of which are ensuites) and 5 showers one outside in the garden) and can sleep up to 11 guests also. One of the downstairs bedrooms is big enough to sleep 3. This bedroom can be made up in the following options:- 1. One super-king size bed 2. Two single beds. 3. Three single beds. 4. One double bed and a single bed. The remaining four bedrooms have very comfortable super-king or king size beds that can split to singles if required. Please note the the two downstairs bedrooms which have one ensuite bathroom each feel very separate from the upstairs living area's and 3 other bedrooms. Q. What exactly is the Retreat?
A. It’s a self contained holiday home. Which means the booking party rent out the entire house and grounds. Q. Do you provide the food?
We are not a Bed and Breakfast or a Hotel/Lodge. We have a number of local caterers that we can recommend that cater to small or large groups.(see our catering section under"about Tetoki Retreat") The caterers we recommend are familiar with the Retreat and its set-up and offer excellent service and value for money. The local supermarket (A Woolworth's:-Quite large and brand new due to a fire up-grade has most things,anything really specilised use New World in Freemans Bay, Auckland) is just 3-4 minutes drive away.
Q. Is there is local bakery? .A. A world class bakery "EUROPEAN BREADS"... just 2 mins drive away from the Retreat..(the only one on the Island!) just before the supermarket right opposite the RSA or Saturday Market in Ostend. Its called "Baked on Waiheke" The local baker Derek as had his training from all over the world including Switzerland/France/Germany/USA to name a few!. The croissants and danishes are straight out of the Streets of Paris and are not to be missed!!! So is the bread and other offerings. Be sure to arrive early!!!... To secure your supply... A The best and only real deli on the Island is"IslandThyme Catering & Deli" located in Surfdale. Top class deli with all sorts of delicacies for sale including espresso coffee/glorious cakes/sandwiches/take away heat up meals and so on. 09-372-3400 Hours from Tuesday to Saturday only 10am to 6pm week days to 4pm Saturday. Once again get in early as you will miss out. Thymes Tables Restaurant located upstairs from the Deli. (highly recommended)
Dinner from 6pm to 10pm Tuesday to Saturday. You can't go wrong here going out for dinner...One main/one entree /one desert only on the menu(is fully licienced no BYO)...you won't be disappointed! This wonderful restaurant has won Metro magazine awards. We dine there at least 5-6 times a month. ph 372-3400 Q. Organic Shop? A Located on Tahi Road Ostend 9am till 6pm Monday to Saturday. Q. What do you provide?
A. Full gourmet kitchen and ample supply of platters, glassware, cutlery, small cooking appliances. One small bag of coffee beans is supplied for each group of guests. If there is something that you can’t find in the kitchen, then call the manager and something suitable can usually be found.
.....Basic cleaning essentials such as toilet cleaner, soap free body wash/shampoo/conditioner and hand wash. Toilet paper, glad wrap, tin foil and rubbish bags are also supplied.
Q. Do you supply linen and towels?
A. Fine linen supplied on all our super-king sized ultra comfortable beds...(top quality fine Egyptian Cotton sheets supplied with top of the range duvet inners/covers)... Also includes fluffy white/latte towels...and men's and woman's luxury Baksana bath robes supplied in all bedrooms including the Guest-house. Separate spa towels are supplied for each guest along with towel ranks in each bedroom.
Suitcase stands supplied in all bedrooms.
Guests are requested to please bring your own beach towels.
Q. Where do I get wood for the fire? A. There is a charge for firewood due to increasing costs. 2 meters of wood is supplied for the large outside fire place and pizza oven.
Costs will be included in quotes/invoices. Any extra firewood required over and above that is supplied there is an extra charge.
Q. When can I get the key to the property?
A. The manager is usually on-site to meet guests and the property is open for guests on their arrival. It is essential that guests call the day before to organise the key with the Manager. (Mob: 027 253 1118 027 253 1118 James) Or (Carl 0273529131) or (Steve 0272555081)
At the end of your visit, you can just leave the keys in the door or inside.
Q. Is there sky TV or Internet?
A. All channels for Sky TV(not Rialto) and Wireless Internet available in all rooms of the Retreat only not the Guesthouse)
Q. Do we have to clean up when we leave?
A. Guests are requested to make sure their rubbish is in the bins. Laundry placed in the wash hamper.
Q. I need parking space, what is available?
A. Off-street parking is available for approximately 12-16 cars. Guests are requested to please not park on the road side just to the right of the Retreat main driveway if possible as it is a turn-around area. Wedding guests will be shown where to park. Guests take note this is an Island and parking is offen difficult anywhere as the roads generally narrow with little or no on street parking.

A. The gardens are lit extensively including coloured garden lighting.

Q. What are the directions from the car ferry at Kennedy Point? Answer:- 1. Follow the traffic to the end of the road off the car ferry 2. Turn right at the round about at the end of this road...follow this road it goes down a hill accross a causeway with water on either side of the road 3. Keep following this road round a quite sharp corner to the left 4. As you approach the next very sharp corner keep left and carry on straight through pass the stop sign...don't turn right 5 Vear left at the only stop sign....Follow this road and it joins up with Tetoki Road (If you go past the Liquer Barn you have got too far!!...do a U turn and go back turn right at the stop sign) 6. Tetoki Retreat is at 29 Tetoki Road Palm Beach right next to a bus stop on the left just before going up the hill. 7. Sign on the letter box Tetoki Retreat The guest house is the next driveaway up on the left had side again at 19 Tetoki Road / Follow the RED CONCRETE driveway up the drive / First house on the left.
